Website access instructions

The following notes act as a guide on how to:

1. contact our advisors via the helpline
2. gain access to the website
3. move around the site quickly
4. send emails from various places on the site.

Helpline

The helpline is available from 09.00 to 18.00 each weekday (excluding bank/public holidays).

An advisor will ask you for your user ID and, for security purposes, will also request two random letters from your password.

Access to the website

Website address - www.businesshr.com

This will give you immediate access to the public site. You then need to input your user ID and password (sent by separate email) in the "Login" box on the home page.

If you see a lock, money or sample symbol, it means you have not logged in using your user ID and password.

Moving around the site

There are a number of ways to quickly access information.

Click on any of the subject titles (known as topic pages) to access information on the appropriate headings:

• Contracts and policies
• New starters
• During employment (this section is further divided into sub-divisions)
• Pay and benefits
• Training and development
• Health and safety
• Ending employment
• Non-employees
• HR administration
• Letters and forms
• Statistics and legislation

Alternatively, you can access specific information by a number of routes:

• The search box allows you type in key words, eg "national minimum wage". All the pages linked to this topic will then be displayed.
• The shortcut to subject menu allows you to bypass the topic pages by direct access to a specific document.
• The Sitemap (on the top horizontal navigation bar) lists all of the documents by topic area.
• The A to Z (usually in the top horizontal navigation bar) lists all of the documents in alphabetical order.

Email

At the very bottom of each page you will find three ways of contacting us:

1. Feedback - tell us what you think
2. Our webmaster - for any technical queries
3. Helpline advice and support - via the support icon (question mark in a blue box). This generates a helpline query, which will be handled by an advisor.

If your query is of a more general nature, please use the info link on the contact us page (reached via the top horizontal navigation bar).
