How does the policy template work?
If you have created a contract using one of our templates then you know that any
contract template you create is saved for you and you can go back and re-use it. We
have now developed a similar facility to enable clients to maintain and store their own
policy templates on the website. This is particularly useful when you are creating a draft
policy for circulation and review and need to edit the policy before implementing it, as
you don't have to start again from the beginning!
Once you go back to a template you have created, you will see that anything you
have taken out or changed is highlighted in a separate section to enable you to see the
original BusinessHR wording just in case you need to re-consider it when incorporating
further changes. In the image below you can see how our original template suggested
"directors only or the Company Secretary, who may be accompanied by an external
advisor if requested" has been replaced by the client with "senior managers,
direct line manager or director".
In addition, when we update a template due to legislation changes or updates in
line with best practice, then those changes will be indicated on your template too! It is
therefore easy for you to see our suggested changes and prepare a policy with those
you wish to incorporate. In the example below you will see that BusinessHR have
added another option to the list of gross misconduct offences in the disciplinary policy.
This appears as 'This is a new section which you would not have seen before' so that
you can clearly see the suggested addition and consider whether you would like to include
it in future versions.
Implementing and consulting on new policies, conducting your annual review of
policies and incorporating legislation updates is thus a quick and easy process.
